It is the first producer of pasta in Campania, characterized by 16 production lines in Flumeri (AV). The main cultivation areas of the durum wheat from Irpinia, Puglia and Basilicata.
The Armando’s Supply Chain Plan
The production plant is one of the few factories (less than 5% of the total) owing its mill: this means having the guarantee and total control of the raw material without the obligation to purchase it from third parties. Strong of this advantage, already ten years ago, Armando De Matteis started the first Italian supply chain plan to cancel the important deficiency gap of our wheat compared to the prestigious wheats from abroad: the Armando’s supply chain plan was then born.
The sustainable agriculture plan: the Armando’s Pact
Syngenta, a company specialized in seed production for agricolture, offers – with the “Marco Aurelio” seed – to 850 farmers an unique advantage that enable them to achieve a productive yield of 35% higher than the national one; 9 regions of central and southern Italy are involved in this plan, in which 12000 hectares are destined for this plan, guaranteeing to the farmers a fixed price, established in advance, on the purchase of wheat.
Wheat without using glyphosate
The glyphosate is a widespread herbicide, one of the most used in the world: the IARC (International Agency for Research on Cancer, spine of the OMS) considers the glyphosate among the “probable carcinogens”. Canada and East Europe countries are among the major wheat producers and glyphosate users. The reason why they use this substance is simple: the wheat grows in 180 days from soling to harvest and when the spike grows the moisture creates molds that are usually dried by the sun: such drying is natural in Italy (because of the favourable climate), less in Canada and East Europe, due to the colder climate.
